As a registered Social Worker and Clinical Counsellor with over 15 years experience, I have counselled countless individuals, on a wide array of issues. However, while most people are familiar with working with a therapist, I find many people are not as clear with how they can benefit from working with a Coach.
If I were to describe coaching, I would say, a coach turns your dreams into goals, and helps you to see them through. Whatever area in your life you would like to improve, Coaching can help you get there. It unearths your internal motivations, and uses them as a vehicle to transform unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.
One of the greatest things about coaching is, nothing has to be wrong for you to benefit from it. Often when people seek counselling, they do so when they are trying to resolve difficulties which are causing them distress. However, with Coaching, you can come to improve an already good situation. Often, I will have clients reach out who are unable to pin point why they’ve come to see me, because for the most part life is alright for them. On the surface things are pretty okay, but in certain areas they still feel “stuck”. Despite all the successes they’ve achieved, somewhere deep within, there is a void, or an unexpressed need. Alternatively, they may also be very clear on their goal, and just need some help attaining it.
As your Coach, I look at you as a whole person, and help you find balance and fulfillment in all aspects of your life. We work together to assess your needs, identify your goals, and co create a plan which you’ll be successful in achieving. I look at what is working well, and help you identify ways in which to make them better. We focus on your areas of growth, and work to overcome any barriers which may be getting in your way. Most importantly, I keep you on track and accountable, so you will be successful.
